Donating a fire engine to Del Rio FD Tennessee 10-16-24

As we have heard in the news, Hurricane Helene caused massive damage and loss of life throughout the southern United States. Chief Rob Connor of the Monmouth Park Racetrack Fire Department sent out a written request for equipment donations to assist fire departments in need in TN and NC. Firefighter Taino Nuqa Sariri of the Monmouth Park Racetrack Fire Department sent this donation request out to fellow firefighter and National President of the Knights of the Inferno Firefighter/Military Motorcycle Club Robert LaBerta. Besides being the National President of the Knights of the Inferno MC, Robert was also the Chief of the Union Beach Fire Department during Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Robert LaBerta reached out to Chief Connor and informed him that the Knights of the Inferno Firefighter/Military Motorcycle Club recently recieved a fire engine donation from Fort Lee Fire Department (NJ) through thier Firefighters Mutual Aid Initiative. The Firefighters Mutual Aid Initiative was started by the Knights of the Inferno Motorcycle Club Mother Chapter to collect donated fire equipment to assist fire departments in need all over the US and beyond. The vehicle donated by Fort Lee was FL Engine 5, a 1992 Pierce Lance 2000 gallon per minute pumper with a 1000 gallon water tank. The engine was temporary being stored at Union Gardens Fire Company in Union Beach which was damaged by floodwaters during Hurricane Sandy. Chief Connor had his daughter and former firefighter Anna Connor Brasch reach out to Robert LaBerta with a request from a department in need in TN. Anna Connor Brasch is the owner of Skeleton Hill Provisions in Navesink NJ which has been tirelessly working to get donations and connex boxes dropped at staging areas in NC to store donated items. Anna told Robert about the needs of the Del Rio Volunteer Fire Department in TN. The Del Rio Volunteer Fire Department lost two trucks during the storm and were down to only one truck. Anna and Robert both spoke with Chief Danny Haney of the Del Rio Fire Department. It was agreed that this engine would be a huge help to Del Rio. The Knights of the Inferno Motorcycle Club bought two airline tickets to fly two firefighters, Danny and Daniel Haney, from Asheville NC to pick up the engine and drive it home. The Haneys arrived on October 16th and they will be driving the fire engine to Del Rio on October 17th. The motorcycle club, along with Anna Connor Brasch, outfitted the engine with a few hundred feet worth of donated hose, four thermal imaging cameras, medical supplies, firefighting equipment, nozzles, and ten sets of used firefighting personal protective equipment (PPE). The engine was also sent with 4 large bags full of winter clothing for TN & NC residents in need that were donated by employees of the Verizon Shrewsbury Work Center and Knights of the Inferno Motorcycle Club. Some of the donated equipment being sent with the engine will be passed on to other departments in TN & NC that are in need. The Knights of the Inferno Firefighter/Military Motorcycle Club Mother Chapter would like to thank the following businesses, organizations, and departments for thier donations: Fort Lee Fire Department NJ Laurence Harbor Fire Department NJ Morganville Fire Department NJ Union Gardens Fire Company Union Beach NJ Monmouth Park Racetrack Fire Department NJ Skeleton Hill Provisions Navesink NJ Verizon Shrewsbury Work Center NJ

Donation of Grave Marker for WWII USAAC Sgt. Mumford 11-11-22

On Veterans Day 2022, the Knights of the Inferno Firefighter/Military Motorcycle Club of NJ was honored to dedicate a grave marker to a very special veteran. Sgt. Nathan Mumford was part of the Tuskegee Airmen and served as an Airplane Armorer attached to the 949th Air Engineering Squadron. Sgt. Mumford was inducted into the US Army Air Force on February 13th, 1942. His orders took him to places in Italy such as Naples, North Appenines, Rome-Arno, and Sicily. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and American Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on November 5th 1945. The Knights of the Inferno Motorcycle Club would like to thank the many people and organizations that made this grave marker happen: Billie from Shorelands Memorial Gardens who relayed the information regarding Sgt. Mumford's grave marker to Korean War Veteran and former Commander Frank Wells of the American Legion Post 321 in Union Beach. Mr. Wells then contacted the Knights of the Inferno MC and asked us if we could raise the money needed to make the grave marker a reality. After a few months of fundraising, the Knights of the Inferno Motorcycle Club, American Legion Post 321, and American Legion Post 273 of Keansburg were able to raise the funds to install the grave marker. A huge thank you to all of them. We would also like to thank the Shore Knights and United States Air Force Honor Guard out of Joint Base for their love and support. Please understand that there are many other veterans interred at Shorelands Memorial Gardens that do not have grave markers. Please contact Shorelands to find out how you can sponsor a veteran in an unmarked grave and get them the grave marker they so rightly deserve.
